Baarn haalt met Scott Hamilton & Peter Beets de wereldtop in huis
November 15, 2025
The Royal Jazz Evening is being held for the 15th year. The event has become a beloved annualhighlight, always sold out, and is certainly of cultural significance to the entire region.
The goal of Vorstelijke Jazz is clear: to keep classic jazz—Classic Jazz, as it was played by the legendary jazz heroes of yesteryear—alive
We are pleased to present a magnificent selection of top musicians: clarinetist Bernard Berkhout, vibraphonist Jacco Griekspoor, and two world-renowned stars: pianist Peter Beets, who has become very familiar to us, and, as our guest of honor, saxophonist Scott Hamilton.
These unique performances offer an unparalleled experience and bring the essence of classic jazz to life in a sublime way. The anniversary program promises to be another special evening
Scott Hamilton
Scott Hamilton, born on September 12, 1954, in Providence, Rhode Island, is an American jazz tenor saxophonist known for his warm tone and swinging style. He began his musical career in various rhythm-and-blues bands but later switched to jazz and the tenor saxophone.
Peter Beets
As one of the most sought-after jazz artists of our time, Peter Beets has attracted a devoted international following and has performed regularly at major jazz festivals and venues. He has shared the stage with jazz greats such as Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Toots Thielemans, and Benny Golson.
Jacco Griekspoor
Jacco Griekspoor is a Dutch vibraphonist and manager. As a musician, he has contributed to various jazz projects, including the 2002 album “Latin Lounge Party,” on which he collaborated with artists such as Alexander Beets, Rob van de Wouw, and Lils Mackintosh.
Bernard "Doc" Berkhout
Clarinetist “Doctor” Bernard Berkhout is, in fact, a doctor by profession. Discovered by Pim Jacobs and Rita Reys, and the recipient of an Edison Award as well as soloist prizes from the North Sea Jazz Festival and the jazz festivals in Breda and Den Bosch, he has since become one of the Netherlands’ jazz icons.
The Jazz-o-Matic-Five will perform starting at 7:15 p.m. and during the intermission. This year’s guest of honor is Carmen Jacobs on violin. The Jazz-o-Matic-Five has been a staple of the European classic jazz scene for over 40 years. The band has performed at numerous national and international festivals with its unique combination of instruments, including cornet, bass saxophone, piano, and banjo. Thanks to its distinctive sound, the band seems much larger than it actually is, earning it the nickname “The World’s Smallest Big Band.” Its repertoire includes jazz pieces and evergreens from the period 1915–1940.
This year, the Jazz-o-Matic jazz band will perform with special guest Carmen Jacobs on violin!
