Jazz-O-Matic

The Jazz-O-Matic-Four has been a staple of the European classic jazz scene for over 40 years. The band features a unique lineup: cornet, bass saxophone, piano, and banjo. Three of these four instruments can provide rhythm, while all of them also perform solos. This makes the band sound much larger than it actually is, hence its nickname, “The World’s Smallest Big Band.”

The band performs pieces from the period 1915–1940, including both jazz standards and evergreens. The band’s instrumentation ensures that the characteristic Jazz-O-Matic sound is always present, regardless of the repertoire. The Jazz-O-Matic Four has performed successfully at numerous jazz festivals both at home and abroad. A few examples include Breda (NL), Askersund (Sweden), Biel (Switzerland), Connecticut (USA), and Kobe (Japan). The band has also toured in England, Germany, France, Belgium, and even in Aruba, the Gulf States, and Pakistan. You can hear the Jazz-O-Matic Four on their CDs: “Happy Feet” and “Clap Hands.”

A performance by the Jazz-O-Matic Four guarantees brilliant acoustic jazz played by musicians who are among the best in the Dutch old-style jazz scene.

The musicians are:
