The Speeldoos Theater
Theater de Speeldoos inBaarnis known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere. Every year, the theater offers a diverse range of performances. Both established artists and up-and-coming talents take the stage here. The theater features a large auditorium with nearly 350 seats and a small, intimate auditorium with 100 seats. There is also a cozy theater café where everyone will feel right at home.
Theater of the Year 2023
On Monday, January 29, the Theater of the Year Award ceremony took place during the VVTP theater fair at De Kom in Nieuwegein. Since 2010, the Association of Independent Theater Producers (VVTP) has presented the Theater of the Year Award during the annual VVTP theater fair. There are more than 500 theaters in the Netherlands, the vast majority of which fall into the category of fewer than 450 seats. The theater had been nominated for the award twice before, in 2017 and 2019, but in 2023, it finally won!
The members of the VVTP evaluate all Dutch theaters with which they collaborate in the areas of communication, technology, image, hospitality, entrepreneurship, and the quality of collaboration between the theater and the producer. Various departments and staff members are involved in the evaluation—from marketers to technicians and from production managers to office staff—but performers also share their opinions.
